Cherry blossoms are a big deal in Japan. As spring progresses there is expectation in the air. Many across the country are waiting to see the trees erupt into full bloom. People travel the length and breadth of Japan for the simple purpose of getting the chance to soak up the wonder of nature. Graham Orr has worked for a number of years in Japan in urban Tokyo and this book exploring the task of being mission agents in normal life has been a really helpful and informative read for me. Waking up that morning would have been the same as any other day. The conflict had been raging on for the last few years and life had to carry on. For many of the ordinary Japanese citizens in Hiroshima that day would be their last. Unknown to them the devastating destructive force of nuclear weapons would be unleashed for the first time before the eyes of an onlooking world.

It was great to join together with other Christians last weekend at the OMF Scottish conference through in Arbroath. We (Myself and Jennifer) had an early rise to make it through in time for the day, but it was well worth the quick breakfast. A brief word for those who don’t know of OMF. They are an international missions organisation which sends out overseas workers to various nations in East Asia. From its inception 150 years ago they have been seeking to bring the good news of Jesus to the various people groups of that region.
