An invitation to stop

Over the next few weeks for many of us things will become very busy, which tends to mean we don’t have time to stop. If that is true, then it will not be easy finding space to think either. Yet, this is precisely what I want to invite you to do over this Christmas season because there is a lot to think about. You see, unlike the mad rush and the media frenzy to get us to spend more money, the good news of the Lord Jesus and the reason why he has come is something which lasts long after the dinner is eaten, the gifts forgotten and the tree is down.

When Grace Gets Awkward: OMF October 2017

As a society the UK is one of the most awkward in the world. Let me explain. We have all been there; someone goes to shake your hand and the other aims with the hug. This is when things get awkward and that is the type of awkwardness I’m talking about. Part of our human experience is being awkward people living out life with other awkward people. But have you ever been in a situation where you begin to feel uncomfortable because someone is standing up for what is good and God honouring.

God’s word is very clear that no matter who we are or where we come from we are all people who are in a very desperate situation. Our attitude towards God has been one of disobedience and our condition before God is spiritual deadness (2:1-3).

Pressing the Door; Seeking Compassion

As we awake this morning to the distressing pictures of the young boy washed up on the shores of Turkey I only have one question in my mind. At what point in Britain will we no longer see “swarms” but real people suffering who need the safety we can provide? 

Declare His Glory : OMF Scottish Conference

It was great to join together with other Christians last weekend at the OMF Scottish conference through in Arbroath. We (Myself and Jennifer) had an early rise to make it through in time for the day, but it was well worth the quick breakfast. A brief word for those who don’t know of OMF. They are an international missions organisation which sends out overseas workers to various nations in East Asia. From its inception 150 years ago they have been seeking to bring the good news of Jesus to the various people groups of that region.
